Research Interests


Main research areas: Political history of Bhutan, with particular attention to its relations with the British Empire and the dynamics of the Himalayan “Great Game”; the history of the Kingdom of Lān Nā; the role of Parsi communities in the Raj and across Southeast Asia; and Anglo–Chinese relations from the Ch'ing dynasty through the Republic of China.

Additional interests: The history of New Zealand; the definition and practical application of Gross National Happiness in Bhutan; the law and governance of financial markets in East Asia; Asia in Disney Comics.

Technical interests (CS): AsciiMath; Python; IDEs and developer tooling; FinTech systems and digital financial infrastructures.
